Fredericksburg, Texas
Fredericksburg, Texas is a cute, touristy town with lots of wineries. We were in town for about a week so we had time to explore quite a lot of places. We went on the 290 Wine Shuttle hop on hop off wine tour, and we also explored other wineries during our time in town. The wineries we went to were Pontotoc (great biergarten, well known for sangria), Barons Creek (beautiful grounds), Sweetbriar (lots of variety of wine and beer and amazing cookies), Texas Wine Collective (pretty grounds, good cider), Blumenthal (fun outdoor space), Barrele (women crafted wines), and Becker (good wines) with our favorites being Ferris and Fletch (wonderful owner and experience), Fiesta (our favorite wines), Six Shooter Cellars (amazing mead). We like a variety of wine, so we were able to find ones we liked at all the wineries. Everywhere we went the staff was so welcoming and friendly you would think that we had known each other for years!
We also went to the Elk Store Winery and Distillery, Lincoln St Wine and Cigar Bar, Cultures, Fredericksburg Brewery, Altdorf Biergarten, and The Hive which were all fun establishments. The Elk Store Winery and Distillery has a large selection of wines with good bartenders to help you decide what you would like. They make great liquors too; we loved the black rum. Cultures had good, live music and a fun atmosphere. Fredericksburg Brewery makes amazing beers; we really enjoyed our flight. Plus, they have delicious food and games.
We had dinners at Martinis Seafood (excellent!), Crossroads Saloon (not our favorite), and Sozial House (casual and good). Hill Country Donuts and Kolaches and Fredericksburg Pie were delicious treats. The breakfast sandwiches and donuts from Hill Country Donuts and Kolaches are amazing and very affordable!
There are numerous fine art galleries in town that had gorgeous (and expensive) pieces, and we went to several of them.
Enchanted Rock State Park is outside of town and is an interesting and beautiful park. It is the largest single piece of pink granite in the United States. There are multiple, great hiking trails with beautiful views.
