Hidden Gems in the Northeast

These are three places that were not originally on our northeast road trip itinerary, but we loved! We were on our first vork trip (vork = vacation and work), and we were staying in each state on the way home from Acadia National Park. We had planned stops which were wonderful such as Salem, Providence, etc., but these are places we stumbled upon and really enjoyed. These are lesser-known places that made our trip even more enjoyable.

Massachusetts: Minute Men National Historic Park – We were staying nearby, and we decided we wanted to check it out the next day. We are so happy we did. It was the perfect combination of history and nature.

Rhode Island: Lincoln Woods State Park –I looked for a park in route to Providence, Rhode Island, which is where we were staying next. It was a much-needed reprieve and so pretty!

Connecticut: Ocean Park Beach near Mystic – We had been to a few of the beaches while we were in Maine, but it was too cold for us to swim even in July/August. I was wondering if the water was going to be warm enough and clean enough to swim, but it was a comfortable temperature and very clear.

Here is where we stayed on this portion of the trip: Lexington, MA (Aloft Hotel) - Providence, RI (Courtyard Hotel)- New Haven, CT (Courtyard Hotel)
