Tucson, Arizona
We loved this fun city. We stayed downtown at the AC Hotel for a few days and then stayed at the Residence Inn on the eastern side of town when were working remotely. Unfortunately, the internet was not good there; it has been the only hotel that we have had internet issues with on our vork (vacation and work) trips. Our favorite restaurants in Tucson were The Hub, Snooze AM, Gentle Ben’s Brewing, Donut Bar, Three Canyon Beer and Wine Garden, Trident, Fire Truck Brewery, and Yardhouse.
We especially loved all the nature so close to the city! Saguaro National Park is on both sides of the city, and right outside of the city is Mt Lemmon. This was a breath-taking drive with a variety of landscapes and ecosystems as you drive up the mountain. We found a guided drive audio tour that enhanced our drive. This was a free Mt. Lemmon science tour app available on Apple and Andriod. The app provides audio from University of Arizona’s College of Science about the history, geology, ecosystem changes, and the climate changes as you ascend the mountain. We really enjoyed learning about the area! There are plenty of places to stop to view the beautiful scenery. The day we went (Sunday in mid-January), parking was basically impossible the further up we went as there were many others enjoying this beautiful place. Tons of people were sledding. We did not get to do the hikes we planned, but we still were able to do a little hiking at the lower elevations and take in amazing views.
