Montana
We lived in Helena, Montana for a summer due to Mr. Vork’s internship (before we worked remotely). We had no idea what was in Montana, but we decided to take on the adventure. It was one of the best decisions we have ever made. That summer was one of our favorite summers, and it is where we fell in love with the national parks.
Montana is one of the most beautiful states and home to our favorite national park, Glacier National Park.
Flathead Lake is another amazing place to visit.
Also, only three hours away from Helena is Yellowstone National Park.
We traveled around the area almost every weekend discovering beautiful nature and cute towns. Butte, Bozeman, Missoula, and Kalispell were some of our favorite towns. The drives everywhere in the area were gorgeous. In Missoula, Kettlehouse Brewery is home to our favorite beer, Coldsmoke, which is their Scottish Ale, and it is unbelievably delicious.
Of course, Helena will always be a very special place to us. We ventured to many of the restaurants in Helena. Our favorite haunts were Staggering Ox (amazing and unique sandwiches!), Rialto, Brewhouse Pub and Grille, Big Dipper Ice Cream, Lewis and Clark Brewing Company, Blackfoot River Brewing Co, Miller’s Crossing, The Original Grub Stake, and Silver Star.
We went to many of the wonderful parks in and around Helena. Our most memorable nature experiences were the Gates of the Mountains boat ride and hiking Mount Helena.
One of the coolest things in Helena is the Wednesday night free summer concert series called Alive at Five. It is a fun community event with wonderful musicians, food trucks, and great beer from the local breweries.
