Grand Junction and Palisade, Colorado
We stayed in Grand Junction, Colorado twice on a long road trip going to and coming back from Moab, Utah. The first time we stayed we had just visited Black Canyon of the Gunnison National Park, and we only stayed for a night. The second time we stayed for a long weekend. We wanted to stay near downtown so we could walk to dinner at night, so we stayed at the Springhill by Marriott which has shuffleboard, a bar, and had live music both weekends we were there.
Palisade, Colorado has an abundance of wineries, orchards, distilleries, and breweries, and we visited many over the days we were there using Uber and walking which worked well for us. Our favorite was Talon, but we also visited Palisade Brewing, The Ordinary Fellow Winery, Peche Distillery, Red Fox Cellars, Maison Winery, and Carboy Winery.
In Grand Junction we had good meals at Le Rouge, Trail Life Brewery, Feisty Pint, Goat and Clover, Rockslide Brewery, and Dream Café.
Right outside of Grand Junction is the Colorado National Monument, and it is stunning. While it is not one of the 63 national parks, it is within the national park system so it is free to get in with the America the Beautiful Pass. We think that the beauty of this park rivals some of the 63 national parks. There are tons of overlooks that do not require much walking to see the gorgeous views.
